The win-back playbook for slow Tuesdays

By The Attendova Team — Attendova Editorial

Every shop has them: the dead Tuesday, the half-empty Wednesday, the afternoon where two bays sit idle. The instinct is to discount your way out of it. The better move is to call the customers who already trust you.

A win-back campaign is simply reaching out to people who haven't been in for a while. The customer who got brakes eleven months ago is due for an oil change. The one whose inspection sticker expires next month doesn't know it yet. Those are bookable jobs hiding in your own database.

Who to call first

Start with the highest-intent segment: customers whose last visit was 5,000 to 8,000 miles or 6 to 12 months ago. They're past due for routine service and statistically the most likely to book. Then layer in expiring inspections, declined estimates, and anyone who came in once and never returned.

The win-back texts are the part I didn't know I needed. It pulled back customers I'd written off and filled my slowest days.

Make it automatic, not a chore

The reason most shops never run win-back campaigns is simple: nobody has time to make a hundred calls between oil changes. So automate it. Set the rules once — who gets contacted, when, and what the message says — and let outbound calls and texts run on the days you choose.

In a recent pilot, one quick-lube shop reactivated 18% of its lapsed customers in the first month and recovered roughly $6,400 in booked work — almost all of it landing on the quiet Tuesdays and Wednesdays that used to sit empty. The customers were always there. They just needed a reason to come back.
